Support organisation closes its doors
A BUSINESS support organisation which has helped advise and set up scores of Doncaster businesses has ceased trading.
Business Link South Yorkshire (BLSY) has been replaced by Business Link Yorkshire - a single organisation covering the whole of Yorkshire and the Humber.
BLSY was launched in 2001 to give help and support to medium and small companies across South Yorkshire.
Several similar organisations operated elsewhere across Yorkshire.
However, last year regeneration body Yorkshire Forward - which supported the various business links - decided to launch a new regional advice service.
Since its inception BLSY has advised more than 28,000 firms, help set up more than 10,000 businesses and channelled 42 million of investment into companies.
The new Business Link Yorkshire started operating on Tuesday. Julie Readman, former managing director of BLSY said:"Helping to make a difference in South Yorkshire has been our collective mission over the last seven years."
