Resurgent Retford and regional estate agents and auctioneers Drewery and Wheeldon enjoyed a hugely successful week with auctions in Gainsborough and Doncaster doing great business and the re-opening of their Retford office restoring their prominence in the town.
“It’s all gone very well,” said Managing Director and former Epworth businessman David Jackson (pictured).
“Monday’s Doncaster auction though our Auction House franchise was very well-attended and four out of six properties were sold.
“The Gainsborough auction on Tuesday saw some lively bidding with seven lots sold on the night and another sale going through first thing Wednesday morning, giving a final result of 80% sold.
“But there was also significant interest in the two remaining lots, to the extent that sales of those are expected to be confirmed within the next two weeks. That will give us a result of 100% sold from Tuesday’s auction. We could not have hoped for anything better.
“Our next auctions at Gainsborough (May 15) and Doncaster (May 16) have already achieved a very good level of entries. Hallgate Estates, based in Doncaster, are joining us as new introducers for that area and we look forward to a very close working relationship.”
Drewery and Wheeldon’s new Retford office at No 2 Bridgegate Centre re-establishes the company’s prominent presence in the town after the expiry of the lease on their previous premises.
The new office opened for business on Monday March 5 but was officially opened on Wednesday March 7 with an early evening reception.
“It was a very successful and well-attended event and caterers Deli & Dine did us proud, while our own staff extended hospitality to local solicitors, banks, vendors, landlords, tenants, tradesmen and press, plus well-wishers and representatives from Bassetlaw Hospice, who are Drewery and Wheeldon’s chosen charity for 2012,” said Mr Jackson.
“Our support for the hospice has got off to a very good start as the property market finally begins to move forward, and the first monthly cheque from our sponsorship will be with them at the beginning of April.”
The company is donating £50 to Bassetlaw Hospice from every sale made by the Retford office during the year.
