A MANUFACTURER is to create nearly 50 jobs at its Doncaster site following a company reorganisation.
CME Sanitary Systems Ltd has announced it is to close its manufacturing and distribution site in Dunkinfield near Manchester and centralise its operations in the borough.
The move will create 47 manfacturing jobs at CME’s base on the Warmsworth Halt Industrial Estate in Warmsworth.
A spokesman for the company said: “This move will create 47 jobs in the Doncaster area manufacturing the Celmac brand of toilet seats as well as providing a wide range of products for customers.
“This decision has not been taken lightly and has been the subject of extensive consultation with the workforces on both sites.
Further discussions will be undertaken with affected employees at both sites and it is expected that all operations at Dukinfield will cease in early 2012.
“The company will endeavour where possible to minimise job losses but it is expected the majority of the workforce at Dukinfield will leave the company as part of the transition.”
CME is a manufacturer of toilet seats, flushing systems and micro greywater recycling technology.
Part of the Wirquin Group, the firm also has a manufacturing plant in China.
The company employs around 240 staff in the UK.
