Power starts to return to normal following Doncaster blackout

ELECTRICITY has started to be restored to 30,000 homes and businesses affected by a power cut.

Swathes of the town centre, Town Moor, Bennetthorpe and parts of Bentley were among the areas hit by this morning’s blackout.

A fault at an electricity sub-station was believed to be responsible for the power going off just after 7am.

A Doncaster Council spokesman said: “More and more properties have now had their electricity supply restored.

“The majority of traffic lights are now operational and we aren’t anticipating any disruption due to the power failure during this evening’s rush hour.”
