Thousands of jobs could be created in Doncaster under plans backed by Doncaster Council cabinet today.

A new Economic Growth Plan drawn up for the next five years sets out a series of projects which aim to create jobs and encourage investment across the borough.

Projects in the plan backed yesterday include the airport growth corridor and the development of the inland port at Rossington – expected to create almost 6,000 new jobs. Development of the airport itself is expected to create over 8,000 jobs.

Further development of urban sites such as Lakeside, Waterfront, Waterdale and St Sepulchre Gate West have the potential to create almost 4,000 new job, the authority says. And the DN7 plan in Hatfield and Stainforth, including a proposed carbon capture power facility, business parks and link road to the M18, is expected to create almost 6,500 new jobs if it comes to fruition.
