A MAN who started his retail career as a teenager is now managing the town’s biggest shopping centre.
Peter Cook brings 40 years of experience to his new job at Doncaster’s Frenchgate Centre and intends to further improve facilities.
After beginning work at the age of 15, Peter progressed to various posts including working for Debenhams throughout the country. He has also managed large shopping centres in Leeds and Birmingham.
Hull-born Peter said he had received a very warm welcome and a positive impression of Doncaster.
“The Frenchgate is a superb shopping centre, housing some of the best retailers in the country. It offers a terrific shopping experience for everyone,” he commented.
“That said, no matter where you work, there is always room for improvement because of public and retail demand. Doncaster and the Frenchgate Centre have bags of potential and the challenge for me and my team is getting the Frenchgate to improve on the great facilities already on offer.
Peter, who replaces previous centre manager Amanda Phillips, added that he would look forward to meeting more members of the public and hearing their opinions on what could be done to provide an even better service.
