He’s got Doncaster’s card marked! Veteran market trader Mick Maye is moving from retail to production and is marketing a line of celebratory cards dedicated to Donny!

The first cards are now available from his Goosehill cards stall in the market – and he says they’re just the tip of the iceberg and many more cards will be put into production in the near future.

“These are hot off the press,” Mick, who has had a stall on the market for 30 years, told the Free Press. “They feature classic cars superimposed on a map of Doncaster – and the idea is to help put Doncaster on the map.”

The new printing press, at £15,000 is a significant investment for Mick’s company.

“It’s certainly a pretty big risk and my time of life!” laughed Mick, who celebrates his 65th birthday next week.

He added that he also plans to create a range of Doncaster postcards. “We get asked for them every day and no-one’s got any – not even Tourist Information or the Library.”
