A CAREER on the ocean waves beckons for a Royal Navy recruit from Doncaster who has completed the first phase of his training.

Trainee air engineering technician Ryan Dutchak arrived at HMS Raleigh, in Cornwall, last November to undergo ten weeks of intensive training, designed to give recruits the skills they need for a successful career.

Before passing out in front of family, former Hall Cross School pupil Ryan, 24, worked in a supermarket.

He said: “I joined the Royal Navy for a stable and rewarding career.”

Ryan is now heading for HMS Sultan in Hampshire where he will learn how to carry out scheduled maintenance as well as pre and post-flight servicing and inspections for the fleet air arm’s helicopters.
