A keen home brewer has turned his passion into a business - opening his first shop in North Derbyshire.

Matt Darken, aged 38, has been brewing at home for three years.

So when he moved from Nottingham to Dronfield, he saw it as the perfect chance to turn his hobby into something more.

Matt will be stocking beers and ales from local breweries at The Beer Stop, on Callywhite Lane, Dronfield, as well as featuring some continental products.

He is also in touch with gin distilleries about extending his range of products.

The former mental health support worker said: “There is some great pubs around, but there is nowhere where you can buy decent real ale.”

“I am serving local, smaller breweries such as Kelham Island, Abbeydale and Bradfield.

“It is mainly retail, but there is a bar for people to sit at. They can open a bottle they have bought or they can drink some of the beers which are on tap.

“This is something I have always wanted to do and hope I can make a living with it.”
