A Doncaster craft shop has been nominated for a national award - just 18 months after it was first opened.

From Rags To Stitches in Tickhill is in line for the ‘Best Haberdashery Shop in the North of England Award’ at the 2015 British Sewing Awards.

Owner Jayne Maxwell, 52, of Maltby, said: “I was really shocked when I found out.

“We only opened early last year so I never thought we would be in line to get recognised in this way among some of the best haberdashery shops in the country.”

The shop will compete against four other nominees for the award after being nominated by customers in a public vote.

And Jayne is counting on customers to back her again in another public vote to decide the winner.

Members of the public have until December 20 to vote for their favourite.

Jayne said: “If we could win that would be fantastic.

“To give a little shop like ours national exposure would be a dream come true for us.

“I want to say a huge thank you to our customers who voted for us.

“It is those customers who make our shop a success.”

Those who vote will also be automatically entered into a free prize draw with a chance of winning up to £500 worth of sewing goodies.

The winners are due to be announced online sometime in the New year.
