DONCASTER business tycoon Graham Kirkham has increased his wealth in the last year, according to an annual rich list.
The DFS founder once again features in the list of the UK’s most wealthiest people, and now has an estimated fortune of £1.1 billion - up £100 million in 12 months.
He is the third richest person in Yorkshire and the 67th most wealthiest person in the UK, according to the list.
Lord Kirkham grew up in Edlington before setting up what later became DFS above a snooker hall in Carcroft in the 1960s.
He made £450 million for his family from a stock market flotation in 1993, before taking the company private again 11 years later.
Lord Kirkham, of Sprotbrough, benefited to the tune of £400 million when he sold DFS to Advent International for £500 million in 2010.
Last year he became Doncaster’s first billionaire.
Terry Bramall, a major shareholder in Doncaster Rovers, also makes the annual Sunday Times Rich List, which says he is worth £425 million - the same as last year.
Mr Bramall, who made his fortune through Bramall Construction, is believed to be considering re-joining the board of Rovers after he stepped down earlier this year.
He is the sixth richest person in Yorkshire and is ranked 209 nationally.
