The Civic Mayor of Doncaster, Eddie Dobbs, opened the new Dunelm home wares store on Thursday at Crompton Retail Park, Milestone Drive, Wheatley.

The relocation of the 32,800 sq ft homeware store will secure 50 jobs for local people.

Dunelm chief executive, Nick Wharton said: “We are always excited about the opening of a new store. It takes a lot of hard work, investment and commitment getting a new store up and running and we are delighted to welcome the Civic Mayor of Doncaster, Eddie Dobbs, to open our doors for the very first time. We are confident that Doncaster will continue to play a big part in the continued success of the company and look forward to introducing local shoppers to our diverse homewares offering.”

He said the homewares store was excited to introduce its range of over 20,000 home furnishing products to Doncaster.

Joining the Civic Mayor was Barney Bear the official mascot for Barnardo’s, Dunelm’s chosen charity. Barney Bear is Barnardo’s first ever mascot and the store opening will be his third outing representing the charity.
