A NIGHT club which re-opened in a blaze of glory just a few weeks ago has left clubbers disappointed with question marks over its future.
Trilogy in Silver Street burst back onto the nightlife scene in December – two and a half years after closing its doors.
But the club was forced to shut shortly before Christmas on ‘Mad Friday’ – less than three weeks after returning – and clubbers have taken to social media seeking answers.
A message posted on the club’s official Twitter feed on December 21 read: “Sorry – unfortunately Trilogy has had to close tonight due to unforeseen circumstances. Watch this space for more information and updates as and when we get them.”
The club originally closed in 2010 due to a slump in trade and was snapped up earlier this year by a new consortium Yorkshire Bars Limited which announced ambitious plans, creating 100 jobs and installing state-of-the-art sound and light systems at the 3,000-capacity venue ahead of its December 1 re-opening.
No-one at YBL was available for comment and the club’s Twitter and Facebook pages have not been updated since December 21.
The club had announced a glittering New Year’s Eve party but one disgruntled clubber took to Facebook to complain ‘thanks for not opening’ while another posted ‘Can’t believe it’s shut already.’
Lloyd Nicholson of landlords Lazarus Properties said the venue had closed temporarily after flooding but as far as he was aware it was still operating.
“I haven’t spoken to anyone since Christmas,” he said. “I am not sure what’s happening.”
