Neil Pendlebury, working at Barratt Homes’ Horizons development in Auckley, and Steve Sharp working at David Wilson Homes’ Pembridge Park in Auckley, Doncaster, gained official recognition for the excellence with which they run the sites by receiving a Pride in the Job Quality Award. The awards are dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve the highest standard in housebuilding.

The two winners were joined by other Barratt Developments site managers from across the UK who have scooped 79 awards for quality workmanship. Barratt Developments has won more Pride in the Job awards than any other housebuilder.

Brandon Lewis, Housing and Planning Minister, commented: “As government and industry work together to build the homes the country desperately needs, it’s important that housebuilders don’t lose focus on quality. The Pride in the Job Awards are a valuable way of recognising great work on site in construction and Barratt Homes can be proud of their success.”

Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East Managing Director, Paul Newman said he was delighted that local site managers have again been judged as among the best in the housebuilding industry. He commented: “We couldn’t build our homes without the contribution of our site managers across the division, and it’s fantastic to see two of our own having their efforts recognised. These awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication our teams exercise day in day out on our sites, and we are delighted to see these achievements recognised by such a respected industry body.”

The Pride in the Job Quality Awards are the most coveted in the housebuilding industry and have been instrumental in driving up standards for 35 years. They are awarded after the construction standard setting body, the NHBC, carries out a series of spot check site inspections to select the best-organised and best-quality housing developments.

Thousands of site managers throughout the UK were judged on every aspect of their job, including technical skill, quality workmanship, customer service and site safety. The site managers will now go forward to the final round of the competition, which will select the best site manager in Britain.

This award comes on the back of Barratt Developments being awarded five stars by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for customer satisfaction. Barratt is the only major national housebuilder to be ranked as five star by the HBF for the last seven years.
