Residents living without proper central heating in Doncaster will benefit from a new £750,000 scheme.
The programme will bring modern gas central heating to around 170 households that currently have no central heating, electric fires or storage heaters. Qualifying households need to be on a low income or in receipt of income related benefits.
The money comes from a successful bid by Doncaster Council in June to the Department of Energy and Climate Change. Works will be undertaken between November 2015 and June 2016 by local contractors.
Ros Jones, Mayor of Doncaster, said: “Tackling fuel poverty across the borough is a key priority for me. I am pleased that we are able to make this significant investment in bringing much needed central heating to many of the families in most need, while at the same time supporting local business.”
