Two major commercial schemes being developed in Doncaster have been given the go-ahead which will create at least 150 new jobs.
Regeneration specialists St Modwen are now clear to push ahead with their plans to develop 250, 000 sq ft of warehouse and commercial space at Parkside Industrial Estate, just off the A638.
As part of the plans, Doncaster Council also gave detailed planning permission to build two warehouses, totalling 74,000 sq ft, within the wider scheme. St Modwen said the project is expected to create around 150 full-time jobs once companies take occupancy at the units.
The authority has also given the green light to redevelop the Young Street car park at Waterdale Shopping Centre to create new retail, leisure and office space. The plans include the development of a two-storey building, totalling 22,000 sq ft. The ground floor will incorporate 11,000 sq ft of retail space, while the first floor, also 11,000 sq ft, is planned for a variety of uses including office, leisure and restaurants.
Richard Bannister, regional director at St Modwen, said both developments will bring “significant investment and new local jobs.”
He added: “Our plans to develop two important areas of Doncaster demonstrate our commitment and confidence in the town.”
A further planning application is awaiting consent for the construction of a Farmfoods store at Crompton Retail Park in Wheatley Hall Road.
