A YEAR of achievement at the Dearne ALC was celebrated at its presentation evening, attended by special guest Toby Foster.

Mr Foster, now a prime-time Radio Sheffield presenter, is a former Dearne pupil who began his career at the South Yorkshire Times.

Following an introduction from ALC vice-principal Chris Harrington, Mr Foster made his keynote address, that was described by a staff spokesman as “truly inspirational.”

A presentation of awards followed, that included the Hannah King Award, given to high achiever Casey Hall, and the Robert Burley Award to Bethany Pickering of Bolton-upon-Dearne, who hopes to become a surgeon.

Both girls were year 11 pupils who have now left the school.
