MOTORISTS are being warned of weeks of weekend travel disruption as work continues to repair a Doncaster bridge.
The installation of new edge beams on Balby New Bridge, will result in up to seven consecutive weeks of weekend road closures starting Saturday, July 2.
The closures will be outbound over the bridge that forms part of the Balby flyover and diversions will be in place.
These measures will start 10am on the Saturday through to 6am the following Monday.
The works are linked to essential rail track maintenance from Network Rail and will mean the bus lane reopens increasing road capacity in the area.
With ongoing gas works taking place seven days a week along the A630 Balby Road, motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as junctions 37 and 38 on the A1(M).
Peter Dale, the council’s director of regeneration, said: “We apologise for the disruption caused by these essential works but they have to take place now to coincide with arrangements made with Network Rail. We ask people to bear with us until the much needed road improvements are completed.”
