Boy riding motorbike seriously injured

A 15-YEAR-OLD boy riding an off-road motorbike has been seriously injured after hitting a metal post in the centre of a pavement.

The boy was riding an orange Honda CR along the footpath in Wheatley Hall Road when the crash happened outside Cooper Lighting.

He suffered a broken left leg and was detained in Doncaster Royal Infirmary, police said.

A 12-year-old boy, who was a pillion passenger suffered “slight” injuries and fled the scene, a police spokesman added.

The pair were travelling towards Clay Lane when the crash happened near to the junction with Worcester Avenue just after 8pm on Friday.

Officers want to hear from anyone who saw the motorcycle being ridden on the footpath or in the area prior to the collision. Call South Yorkshire Police on 0114 220 2020 quoting incident number 1,024 of February 25.
