HEXTHORPE Primary School’s Cartoon Club have been crowned national winners of a competition to give racism the boot.

The group had been invited to Old Trafford, home of Manchester United FC, to accept their prize for the multimedia category of the Show Racism Red Card competition, but went away taking the overall top prize across all ages and categories.

They were presented the award by United goalkeepers Anders Lindegaard and Ben Amos, with individual prizes such as tickets to Doncaster Rovers, a football, an England shirt and a laptop and Kindle for the school.

The group had spent weeks preparing the animation, which included a rap and puppeteering by pupils.
