AN ICONIC Doncaster-designed steam engine will soon be accompanied by its own specialist support coach following an extensive overhaul and refit.
Tornado, originally designed by engineers at the Doncaster plantworks in Hexthorpe, and built by a team of enthusiasts initially set up at Doncaster Museum, now has a support coach to accommodate its crew and house tools they need.
It will also provide a mobile base for fundraising activities.
The support coach has been built by the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust after a public appeal for funding to help pay for a coach to accompany Tornado on its tours around Britain.
It was unveiled for the first time by the trust’s volunteers yesterday.
