Book sale for church work

A SALE of ‘pre-loved’ books is taking place at St Mary’s Church, Tickhill, on Friday and Saturday to raise money for the Conserving the Future Heritage Appeal.

The Under the Tower event runs from 10am to 4pm on both days and will include hardback and paperback books for adults and children as well as jigsaws.

Grave work

the Friends of Hyde Park Cemetery are holding another working morning event on Saturday, from 9.30am to 12pm, to carry out litter picking, gardening and general tidying tasks to improve the historic graveyard.

Youth club

A new youth group has started in Bawtry Methodist Church Hall on Friday evenings from 7pm to 9pm for young people aged 10-17 to enjoy chat, music, games and refreshments. Anyone interested in helping out can contact the council on 01302 736000.

Tough play

the play of the controversial Stanley Kubrick film A Clockwork Orange comes to the stage at Doncaster Little Theatre tonight (7.30pm) until Wednesday, performed by the 2 Act Theatre company with Simon Carr directing. Tickets are £10.

M-way closures

sections of the north-bound carriageway and slip roads of the M18 between Hatfield and Thorne will be closed between 8pm and 6am for three nights this week to allow road marking and stud renewal work to be carried out.

Cycle plans

Plans to upgrade the Roman Ridge Cycleway between Sunnyfields and Woodlands have been drawn up, which will include new paths and access barriers to prevent rogue riders on motorbikes.

Jazz special

The Roy Norton Jazzband features in a special St Leger Jazz into Doncaster concert at the Conservative Club on Thursday evening.
