MORE than 600 flowers have been stolen from a flowerbed next to a busy junction.
The flower bed, which had been special planted with colour co-ordinated blooms for the jubilee, is located on a busy junction leading to Brodsworth Hall so it is thought the theft happened overnight.
Doncaster Council, who are investigating the theft think it happened approximately a week ago, with roughly 400 petunias, 200 antirrhinum and 10 Laciniata taken in the raid - almost half of the plants in the bed.
Councillor Cynthia Ransome, Cabinet Member for Communities; Street Scene; Environmental Protection; Waste and Recycling said: “This wanton vandalism is disgraceful behaviour towards the environment and the community. Crimes such as this are unjustifiable and need to be prevented at all costs.
“I would urge anyone who thinks they have more information on the crime to contact the police on the non-emergency line 101 and quote the crime number A38099/2012.”
