Blaze near former Earth Centre

ARSONISTS have set fire near to a multi-million pound former eco-attraction yesterday evening.

Around 25 firefighters were called to put out the blaze in the accomodation block which is adjacent to the Earth Centre in Doncaster Road.

Crews from Edlington, Dearne, Maltby and Rotherham stayed for nearly five hours to contain the fire which spread to both floors of the disused building.

Reinforcements were also called and a CARP aerial appliance was sent from Doncaster fire station.

Nobody was injured following the blaze in Denaby which started around 5.45pm.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the fire was started deliberately.
