SEVERELY injured paratrooper Ben Parkinson visited a secondary school and in turn inspired a generation.

The Bessacarr war hero received a hero’s welcome from Balby Carr Community Sports and Science College where he highlighted his charity work and showed them the Olympic torch he carried along Bennetthorpe back in the summer.

Year 12 pupil Katie Harris said: “Ben is a burst of inspiration. He has made me reflect on my own life and realise that anything is possible with enough will power and determination.”
