YOUNG Ben Sanderson likes school so much, he’s never, ever away from it!

The bright 11-year old, who attends Rosehill Junior School at Rawmarsh, has clocked up an amazing 100 per cent attendance record during his last four years as a pupil there.

And to celebrate his achievement, Ben received two certificates during a special assembly last week.

A school spokeswoman said: “It’s quite unusual for a pupil not to have any time off at all, whether for illness or some other reason.

“We felt Ben should be rewarded for his unblemished record and arranged for him to be presented with certificates in this last term before he leaves to go to high school.”

Ben, who lives at Rawmarsh, is a keen drama and music student. He has now joined others from his year who have left Rosehill to take part in an induction fortnight at Rawmarsh Community School.

Headteacher Martin Wagstaff said: “We often have one or two pupils who make a year without any absences, but four years is quite remarkable.

“We feel this shows real determination and a commitment to school life, along with a small element of luck, of course, in that Ben didn’t become ill during that time.” Next Thursday all pupils will celebrate the end of year with a beach party disco.
