BELTON Parish Council is asking residents for suggestions on how to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee later this year.
Nationwide events will take place over a bank holiday weekend at the beginning of June and the council has allocated money from its 2012/13 budget to mark the special occasion.
Council chairman Tony Ferris said: “We want local people to decide how best to celebrate the jubilee and invite them to submit proposals.
“It could be anything – a special event, bury a time capsule, a ceremonial tree planting, amenitities in Belton, Sandtoft and Beltoft. We want your ideas and commitment to carry the project through.”
Proposals should outline how the project would be managed, potential benefits for the village and any long term legacy after the event.
Finacial accountability and costs should also be detailed and whether funding is required from sources other than the parish council.
Organisations and individuals should e-mail proposals to the council clerk at firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, March 19.
Alternatively write to 88 Messingham Lane, Scawby, Brigg, DN20 9NE.
Suggestions will be considered by the council at its meeting on Tuesday, March 20, and successful applicants will be contacted.
