Barnsley Council’s housing association, Berneslai Homes has been rated nationally as a top employer by work place engagement specialists Best Companies. They have been accredited with “One to Watch” as a result of their latest staff survey.
The Best Companies Accreditation was established to acknowledge corporate excellence in the workplace. It looks at factors including how staff feel about the companies leadership, training, their future prospects, personal growth, colleagues, wellbeing, pay and benefits. Berneslai Homes will be featured in the 2012 Best Companies Guide, an annual reference for graduates, which provides independent and unbiased information on some of the UK’s best workplaces.
Berneslai Homes Chief Executive Helen Jaggar said “I would like to thank our staff for taking part in this year’s staff survey and I’m delighted we’ve been acknowledged in the guide for the second year running. It’s yet another milestone we can be proud of.”
Berneslai Homes Arms length Management Organisation (ALMO) was set up by Barnsley Council in 2002 to manage its housing estates and bring the homes up to government decent homes standards by 2010. In 2009 they were awarded a three stars excellent rating with excellent prospects for improvement by the Audit Commission following an inspection. The organisation is run by a board comprising of a Chair, three councillors, three independents and three tenant members. Berneslai Homes manages approximately 19,500 properties and employs just under 500 employees.
