A CLASSIC car enthusiastic is celebrating after racing to claim first spot in a popular show.
For Barbara Hill is now adding a ‘Best in Show’ trophy to her polishing chores to go with her Ford Consul classic which wowed the judges.
The vintage vehicle owner from Armthorpe was also offered £9,000 to take the car off her hands - nearly 13 times the price she paid over 20 years ago.
However the 73-year-old is in no rush to sell the car that cost her just £700.
Speaking after her win at the show in Rotherham, Barbara, of Hatfield Lane, said: “It’s one of the biggest shows which I’ve never won before so I’m really happy.
“When I saw the car in Barnby Dun, I kept asking the owner to buy it over and over again so when he finally sold it to me I was delighted.
“I’ve entered several shows and have won in places like Cheltenham and Grantham but never Rotherham. I wouldn’t want to sell it because I take it everywhere with me.”
