a DONCASTER band is certainly not brassed off after qualifying for a national champsionships.
After playing their hearts out at the Yorkshire regional heats, members of the Armthorpe Elmfield Band have secured their place at the National Brass Band Championships.
The accomplished band, that features seven members who are still at school, is no stranger to success with several competition wins already under its belt, including the Third Section of The Queens Golden Jubilee Award in 2002.
The band, that was formed in 1964, is now busily brushing up on its brass band skills before the finals that will take place in September in Cheltenham.
The band has previously toured France and Germany with great success under the town twinning arrangements of Doncaster Council.
And it has already received the royal seal of approval after previously being chosen to play for members of the Royal Family, including The Queen, at a luncheon in Doncaster, and the late Princess Margaret.
