The inquest on a man killed in a road collision in Balby, Doncaster, last weekend is to be opened on Friday.
The pedestrian who died was today named by police as Andrew Wood, aged 37, from Scunthorpe, north Lincolnshire.
He sustained fatal injuries in a collision with a with a red Mercedes HGV in the nearside lane of the dual carriageway on Balby Road, at around 11.20am on Saturday, November 23.
Mr Wood was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary where he was pronounced dead.
Balby Road was closed on Saturday morning as the Yorkshire Air Ambulance landed on the other side of the dual carriageway to airlift the casualty after he was treated by paramedics.
Circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear and a police spokesman suggested he may have jumped from railings into the path of the lorry..
It caused major traffic delays and the road was sealed off by police for several hours.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have been in the area around the time, to call 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident 421 of November 23.
Mr Wood’s family have not issued a statement and asked to grieve in private.
