A PILE of rubbish in the backyard of a Doncaster business was deliberately set alight this afternoon.

Plumes of smoke could be seen billowing from behind Hazelhurst beauty salon on Nether Hall Road at about 1.30pm.

One fire appliance went out to the small blaze which was discovered by someone working in a nearby building.

Watch manager Chris Neal said: “There is a building being renovated and the rubbish from the work is being left behind the building.

“It seems that someone has then come in and set the rubbish alight.”

He added: “Coming out to incidents like these takes up our valuable time and resources. We could be elsewhere helping to make other buildings and communities safe.”
