Police are appealing for information after a 64-year-old Doncaster woman died in a collision after being thrown from a bike.

A maroon Suzuki 1100 motorcycle, being ridden by a 56-year-old Doncaster man, is believed to have been travelling along the A614 Selby Road just after 12 noon on Saturday, heading towards the village of Thorne and the road junction with the M18, junction 6.

Taking a right hand turn, the Suzuki came off the road and collided with street furniture. The rider and the passenger, a 64-year-old Doncaster woman, are believed to have come off the motorcycle at this point.

The man and woman were thrown down the embankment into a field as the motorcycle returned to the centre of the carriageway.

The 64-year-old woman passenger suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The 56-year-old man sustained minor injuries and was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information that could assist officers is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 571 of 26 October.
