VOLUNTEERS are being sought by a cancer care charity to help with fundraising in the run-up to Christmas.
Marie Curie Cancer Care is hoping to sign up a string of festive helpers to man 26 collections at locations including Doncaster supermarkets, Doncaster railway station, and the Frenchgate Centre throughout the weeks leading up to Christmas.
The first collections start at the railway station on Thursday and Friday.
Liz Howlett, community fundraiser for Marie Curie Cancer Care, said: “Christmas can be a very difficult time for some families especially when a loved one is terminally ill. Marie Curie Nurses enable people with terminal cancer and other illnesses to spend Christmas with the people and things they love close by.”
Last year, Christmas collections in South Yorkshire raised £14,500 for the charity. For more information call 0114 279 3010.
