Another giraffe set to meet the same sad fate as Marius

Last week we reported how the Yorkshire Wildlife Park’s bid to save a healthy 18 month giraffe from destruction had failed - and now it looks as though another giraffe in a Danish zoo may be about to face the same ending.

Doe-eyed Marius was put down by a zoo in Copenhagan, which said it had no other choice because of European rules to avoid in-breeding - despite offers from the Branton based wildlife park to rehome him.

And now, days later, a second Danish zoo has said one of its giraffes, also called Marius, faces a similar fate.

Jyllands Park Zoo says that seven year-old Marius may also have to die because of the same European breeding rules.
