OUR annual Scan For Life Memory Tree appeal has got off to a tree-riffic start - thanks to kind-hearted Frenchgate Centre shoppers.
For the yearly festive fund-raiser kicked off in the centre on Monday and raised £579 in its first few days - helping push us ever closer to our goal to raise £600,000 for a new state of the art cancer scanner for Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
The Memory Tree allows people to remember their loved ones and boost campaign coffers at the same time and Labour leader and Doncaster North MP Ed Miliband is set to offer his support when he drops in to the centre tomorrow.
The tree is in the shopping centre near the customer services desk from 10am to 4pm until December 23. Shoppers can make a donation in return for a memory decoration to place on their own tree.
Meanwhile, tickets for the annual Christmas Carol Concert at Doncaster Minster on December 15 are on sale from today, priced at £3 and available from the Free Press offices or on 01302 349177.
A full programme of the event will be available on the night at the concert which gets under way at 7pm.
