A date has been set for a four-year-old girl’s life changing operation in America to help her walk for the first time.
Generous readers helped to raise the £70,000 needed to send Mae Louisa Lilly Fox - who suffers from spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy - for surgery.
Mae’s pioneering surgery, on January 28 in Missouri, involves carefully cutting the nerve fibres in her spine to improve her movement.
Mae’s mum Amy, 29, of Birch Road, Cantley, is now busy booking flights for the impending operation,
She said: “The dream feels more like a reality now we have the date. I was so excited when I got the confirmation but it is a little bit daunting.
“We will be over in America for around four weeks and Mae will need a lot of physio after the operation so we have a long road ahead of us. I’m just thankful to people who supported us and helped give Mae this chance.
“People are still fundraising now to help us with aftercare costs, it’s overwhelming.”
