A HEROIN addict has been jailed for six years after he killed a jogger in a hit-and-run collision.
Mark Heeley admitted dangerous driving when the wing mirror of the lorry he was driving hit and killed 52-year-old Derek Lyon in Old Denaby in March this year.
Doncaster Crown Court heard how the 38-year-old, of Memoire Grove in Rossington, had previously been banned from driving 14 times.
Michael Slater, prosecuting, said that Heeley’s driving record was “appalling”.
Tim Savage, for Heeley, said his client had shown enormous remorse since committing the offence and offered his sincerest apologies to Derek’s family.
