A CARING youngster has received a top accolade for his giving nature.

Adam Hayes, nine, has been crowned a ‘Super Badger’ having completed subjects ranging from first aid to health and safety for the Armthorpe-based Markham Badger Unit.

The unit, run through St John Ambulance, teaches youngsters first aid, and the Super Badger title is the highest award for Adam’s age group of five to ten-year-olds.

Mum and unit leader Tracey Hayes, of Thomas Road, Stainforth, said: “I am very proud of his achievements, both as a badger leader and his mum.”

The Long Toft Primary School pupil will now offer his expertise and be a guide for other group members.

Boys and girls are needed for the unit - in its 25th year - for the Monday meetings at Armthorpe Community Centre in Church Street, from 6pm. Call 01302 845611.
