POLICE continue to tackle drink-fuelled anti-social behaviour in Wombwell.
Increased patrols were mounted in the town following repeated concern from residents about people ignoring the ban on drinking alcohol in public on High Street.
Officers were asked to address the issues at a public meeting where residents said the ban on consuming alcohol in public in the town centre was being ignored.
Police increased their presence in a bid to stamp out the gathering of trouble makers around shoppers’ benches.
Other agencies are working with police to try and eradicate the problem.
