GOOLE Scout Group is spreading a bit of festive cheer this Christmas by helping to deliver Christmas cards.
The group is making use of registered charity legislation to send Christmas cards for Goole residents who may not be able to afford Royal Mail delivery.
Scout leader Robert Ludlow said: "The Goole Scout group has been sending the cards for 15 years.
"The more elderly among us do enjoy it as it can save money when pensions are tight. Some look forward to it each year."
The distribution area covers Goole town, Airmyn and Hook villages and Old Goole, with the last collection on Friday December 12 to be delivered the same weekend.
There are 70 scouts involved in the service, aged 6-14, as well as various parents.
The post boxes, which are already out and ready for letters, are based in the Courier's reception and numerous places around Goole, including the Scout Group HQ, Goole Hospital, Goole Town Council Offices, and the Moorlands centre in Old Goole.
The Scouts are also running a Christmas draw, to be drawn on December 22 at the Scout Section Christmas dinner.
Tickets cost 20p each and the proceeds go towards general funds to help refurbish the Scout building. Tickets can be bought at reception.
Anyone wishing to volunteer to help the delivery service, can contact scout leader Robert Ludlow on 01405 8769147.
