A MAN had to be cut free from his van after an accident on the M62 this week.
The air ambulance, along with firefighters from Goole and Snaith, were called out to the M62 eastbound just prior to junction 35 at 8.50am on Tuesday to deal with an incident involving two vehicles.
Fire crews, working alongside paramedics, succes
sfully released a man who became trapped after his van veered off the motorway and ended up on its side and in a dyke.
A second vehicle, a Peugeot 106, also overturned following the incident.
Firefighters had to peel back the roof and cut open other parts of the structure of the van to free the driver who was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The casualty in the second vehicle was free from the wreckage when the emergency services arrived, she also needed hospital treatment.
While the air ambulance landed close to the incident it was not required and left the scene as the incident concluded.
Glenn Ramsden from Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said: "Watch manager Lunn and his crews worked extremely well together at this incident to release the casualty safely. This is yet another example of how highly trained our retained and wholetime crews are and how they integrate seamlessly at incidents."
