Doncaster Conservatives have welcomed today’s announcement of £74,900 funding for repairs to Holy Trinity and St Oswald’s Church in Finningley.
Six other churches across South Yorkshire also received repair funds (see table below for full details). These repairs will also help to prevent further damage to these buildings – ensuring they are preserved for generations to come.
Carl Jackson, Conservative Candidate for Don Valley constituency, said: “I’m delighted to hear that Finningley Church has got £74,900 from the Government to fund repairs.
“Holy Trinity and St Oswald’s Church is an important part of the community in Finningley and this money will help ensure it’s there for future generations.
”This Government’s priority has rightly been to mend the economy, but I believe it must also take action to protect our national heritage. With these grants for churches across South Yorkshire, this Government has shown it is committed to doing just that.’
Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne said: “Churches and Cathedrals are a unique part of our national heritage, and play a vital role in community life – we want to support them, and thanks to our long-term economic plan, we can. Whether it’s our country’s future or these important buildings, the sun is shining and we’re starting to fix the roof.”
