COMMUNITY groups in Doncaster can apply for a slice of a £610,000 funding pot set aside for deprived areas across the country.
The Community First Neighbourhood Matched Fund supports projects which will help improve the “quality of life” of local residents.
Project development officer Radmila Fortune-West said: “In these difficult times of austerity and severe funding cuts for voluntary sector, this is an excellent opportunity for local groups to obtain small grants from £250 to £2,500 for local projects.
“The deadline for the first year of funding is May 25 and local groups based in are encouraged to apply asap.”
Doncaster residents in Balby, Doncaster Central and Town Moor have set up three separate local panels which will decide upon projects for funding in these wards.
It is matched funding, which means that every £1 provided in funding must be matched by a similar amount of in-kind donations - which can be in goods, services or volunteer time.
