Brigg is all set to host the Keyo Brigg Bomber World Quadrathlon Championships on Sunday May 25. This is the first time the World Championships has been held in this country.
It is a fantastic achievement for the Lincsquad Club that has worked extremely hard to secure the event for Brigg.
Lincsquad has held a number of multi-sport events in the town since it was formed in 2007 but hosting the World Championships is a real step forward for them.
This gruelling multi-sport event includes a 1.5k river swim, 7k kayak, 36k bike race and a 10k run. Both individual and team entrants have been accepted so there will be a good starting line-up.
All places for the race have been filled with entrants coming from all across the world to take part.
Local sportsman Steve Clark who is based in Scunthorpe, is highly favoured and is expected to do very well in the event, he said:
“I’m really excited to be racing at the world Quadrathlon Championships again and even more so as it’s in the UK for the first time ever and then its gets even better for me as it’s on my local course. The Keyo Brigg Bomber an event I have won three times in the past, although I know this time it’s going to be much tougher as the start list is packed with the current World Champion from Germany and former World Champions from Czech, plus others. I’ll be given the event up most respect and all I’ve got and hope it’s enough on the day. It’s getting close now and I’m thinking about the race every day and hope to have a lot of local support on the day. I’d like to thank my sponsors for their continued support in 2014 Claud Butler, Xterra Wetsuits, Metres to Miles, Tom Lane Physio, East Ferry Timbers and North Lincolnshire Council. ‘Chase to Race the Dream’.”
