Skills to get you back to work

A GROUP of women are feeling positive about the future after taking a computer course to ease them back into the world of work.

Of the 15 women who recently graduated from Doncaster College's 2008 Women in Information Technology course almost half of them have already secured jobs and four others have gone on to further study.

The mixed group of women, of all ages and abilities, said that the course, which covers a variety of aspects of IT had increased their confidence in returning to work after raising children and had opened up their career options.

Peter Beard, programme manager for ICT 19, said: "It's an enjoyable experience all round. This is the second year we have run the course and we still keep in touch with the first group. Next year we are offering it again at The Hub and at Edlington Hill Top Centre and Moorends Community Centre."

* Further information about the course can be obtained by calling Julie Escreet on (01302) 553690 or click here to email julie.escreet-@don.ac.uk
