Why not try out the brand new carvery at the Blacksmith’s Arms in Hook

LAUNCHED this week at the popular Blacksmith’s Arms in Hook, near Goole, was a brand new carvery.

We were invited along to sample the hospitality, food and drinks on offer and were thoroughly impressed with what we saw.

From walking into this village watering hole you can’t help but feel welcome with smiling, attentive staff and a homely, yet modern, setting.

The aroma of your mum’s best Sunday dinner greeted us this particular Tuesday evening and the smell was only surpassed by the taste.

The new carvery offers diners the choice of three meats - turkey, ham and beef - with main meals starting from as little as £3.95, and starters from just £1.50.

Now I am no connoisseur of carverys but I know a good value for money meal when I have one.

The Blacksmith’s Arms carvery ticked all of my boxes - the meat was well cooked and not too dry, there was a choice of two potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing balls, and six types of vegetables - carrots and swede, green beans, peas, and sweetcorn, cauliflower cheese - with a vat of steaming hot gravy too.

It was simply delicious.

My party all cleared our plates, and only the children decided they had room to fit in desserts - one opting for the treacle sponge pudding and ice cream (which they didn’t manage all of I hasten to add!), the other a mint Aero concoction - the adults politely helped the youngsters finish these off.

The carvery is open seven days a week, and there is also a pie, lasagne and vegetarian option too.

Plus for everyone that goes along and samples the delights of the Blacksmith’s Arms there is also the chance to win a carvery a week for a year! Now that is REAL value for money!!!
