Wearing sombreros and raising vital charity cash by turning Mexican is just one of the exciting theme days at The Gate Inn in Swinton.
The Mexican day was held on Saturday to raise money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and is one of many fundraisers manager Matthew Maddocks involves the pub in. The friendly hostelry was taken over by Matthew eight months ago and he aims to make it the hub of the community.
The pub, in Church Street, has a large children’s area and beer garden. On Thursdays there is karaoke and a disco, a disco on Friday and different themed quizzes throughout the rest of the week including general knowledge on Tuesdays and a sports quiz on Sunday lunchtimes.
Manager Matthew said: “We hold charity events on a regular basis. However, it’s the end of the summer so our next one will probably be a Halloween party. Anyone who wants to find out about us call 01709 571724.”
