Friday and Saturday: The New Youth Theatre Company presents an entertaining production of the award-winning family musical Annie. The heart-warming tale of the New York orphan is packed with favourite songs uch as It’s A Hard Knock Life and Tomorrow and is set to showcase some of the future stars of tomorrow. Friday and Saturday: Every town has its local trendy cocktail bar where everyone wants to be seen - from the local check-out girls to the chinless wonders. And John Godber’s Shakers showcases them all as the popular comic production comes to the Little Theatre. The 2 Act Theatre Company Production will be staged from 7.30pm both nights. Friday: Get set to rock the night away to classics such as Fire, Empire and Club Foot as Kasabian tribute band Kazabian take to the stage at Askern Welfare. The concert is in aid of Askern Villa FC. Tickets are £5. Contact 07717 284673 for details.

Saturday: Classical pianist Liam Brown will once again be in action to entertain shoppers in the Corn Exchange Forum. There will be music between 11.30am and 1.30pm.

Saturday: Lovers of light opera and popular classics should head for Printing Office Street this weekend when popular musical ensemble Uno Ancora will once again be in action outside TJ Hughes. The music takes place between 11.30am and 1.30pm.

Saturday: Organist Martin Brown from Bangor Cathedral will be delivering a concert at Doncaster Minster from 7pm. Admission is £7 and includes refreshments.


Sunday: There’s rugby action across the Pennines as Doncaster take to the field at Rochdale Hornets’ Spotland Stadium in the Co-operative Championship One clash. Kick-off is 3pm. Tickets are available from the Keepmoat Stadium box office on 01302 762576.

Saturday and Sunday: Let battle commence as the American Civil War Society bring calvarly and artillery to Cusworth Hall for a two days of battle re-enactment. Experience camp life, battles, medical treatments and other aspects of mid 1860s American life. The battle will get under way from 2.30pm. Contact or 01302 782342 for details. Saturday and Sunday: More than a dozen glorious gardens will be in bloom as Hatfield stages its annual open gardens event. In aid of Weston Park Hospital, the event takes place from noon to 5pm each day £2.50 per per day per person while accompanied children will be admitted free. Tickets are available on 01302 842389. A variety of gardens in and around the village will be open including Manor School.

Sunday: Enjoy a magnificent display of classic cars in the picturesque surroundings of Brodsworth Hall and Gardens when the Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club pays a visit to the English Heritage property. The display will take place from noon to 5pm. Admission is £5.50/£5 and £3.30.
