Sheridan’s near miss at awards

A PUBLIC outcry on social media sites has lamented the fact that Epworth actress Sheridan Smith did not receive a National Television Award.

However, the actress herself was chirpy following the awards, at which she held a nomination for what she claimed to be her favourite role to date, as Mrs Biggs in the drama of that name.

Sheridan, 31, lost out on the gong to actress Miranda Hart for her role in Call the Midwife.

However, the day after the awards, Sheridan updated her Twitter site by saying: “I’m in such a happy mood! Met so many lovely people last night. Thanks for voting to get me nominated. So grateful for all your love and support.”

She also spoke of her pride in Alan Davies and Joanna Lumley, both of whom triumphed on the night.

Sheridan’s first TV role was in 1999 in ITV’s Dark Ages. She has starred in The Royle Family, Two Pints of Lager, and Rudi in Gavin and Stacey.
